Law of attraction, positive thinking, and other New Age methods are not cures for deep states of depression and severe mental illness. I have suffered with depression since I was in high school and another range of mental health illnesses when I discharged from the military in 2007. I am able to recognize and prepare myself for the onset of a severe mental breakdown or episode of depression.
From personal experience I recognize that the best way to brace oneself and begin the healing process is to recognize that it is necessary and you must endure it. Just as bad weather, it comes and when it leaves there is almost close to near perfect weather. The best coping method is to continue your routine even if you have to scale it down a notch. When in bed and struggling to get out of it, find something constructive you could do.
